Job Description Job Description Hours: Monday-Thursday 6:15am-3:30pm, Friday 6:15am-12:15pm. Some Saturdays when needed 6:00am-10:00am Job Summary: Maintains systematic activities of the Quality System through inspection of products at various stages of production, evaluating statistical data, performing process audits, and monitoring quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Inspector Duties Following processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and customer quality standards. Inspection of raw, in-process (WIP) and finished goods inventory parts to determine if they meet customer specifications. Track all defects related to part quality, material, subcontract operations and packaging for analysis. Conduct measurements and fill-out paperwork in support of FAIR submissions. Communicate with management and operators regarding quality problems or elevated risk of defects based on (inspection and) SPC data. Enter data regarding NMR or RMA issues, keep and update respective lists for review. Train or assist new or inexperienced employees in gage techniques as required. Ability to develop and maintain rapport with employees to ensure that projects are completed as smoothly and effectively as possible. Willingness to provide information and training to others as necessary to ensure that the most accurate information is available to other employees as needed. Creates a climate in which plant personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities commensurate with customer and company goals. Perform other duties as assigned or as dictated by position responsibilities. Auditor Duties Conduct initial and ongoing process audits to ensure that quality specifications are adhered to. Audit inspection logs from production. Audit production set-ups to assure compliance to set-up sheets (press brake, etc.) Audit production processes for compliance to documented procedures and work instructions. Based on process audit findings, work directly with Production, Engineering, and Quality to identify opportunities for variation reduction, implement process improvements, and resolve issues. Provide process improvement know-how, methods, and conceptual expertise to various departments. Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Education and Experience: Level I High School diploma or GED equivalent Minimum 2 years quality inspection experience OR Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience ASQ certificate is preferred Level II All Education & Skills of Level I. Minimum of 5 years experience within a progressive quality department. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools and techniques including 5S, SPC, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, PFMEA, Control Plans, and/or 8-Ds are a plus. Strong knowledge of inspection equipment, GD&T, PPAP, 1st Article. Skills: Level I Strong interpersonal skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge of 1st Article process Use of various inspection measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, thread rings and thread plugs. Ability to Read Blueprints Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Willingness to provide information to others as necessary to ensure that the most accurate information is available to other employees as needed. Level II Experience in problem solving methods and root cause analysis. Blueprint Reading Ability to include Weld Symbols & GD&T Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization Ability to facilitate group problem solving and implementation activities. Strong experience in problem solving methods and root cause analysis typical of Lean or Six Sigma environments. Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes. Use of Statistical software a plus.
